The E-Waste World Expo kicked off in Frankfurt on June 17. The EU tightened WEEE regulations to raise metal recovery standards for electronic waste, requiring precise separation of copper, aluminum and stainless steel from mixed circuit boards and plastic shells.
Exhibitors promoted high-frequency intelligent eddy current separators combined with rotary grate magnets for two-stage iron removal sorting. Single-stage sorting can no longer meet purity standards, and the combined process of permanent grate iron removal plus eddy current separation has become mainstream. EU buyers added mandatory carbon footprint verification for equipment, driving higher procurement volume of low-power electromagnetic separators and lightweight permanent magnet machines. More than 20 local distributors negotiated cooperation with Chinese manufacturers of complete sorting systems at the show.
